I think the purse strings blocks create such an interesting pattern and secondary pattern when they're all put together, and I definitely see more of these in my future!
Y'all know me, if there's a polkadot to be had, I will back a quilt with it! It just so happens that this particular fabric, from the Amy Butler Lotus line goes just perfectly. How could I resist?
For my newer readers, I made my label using my own method, which you can find HERE. For the binding, I opted for one of the fabrics already in the quilt. It's called Boho Stripe from the Wrenly fabric collection.
I have to say that of all of the quilts I've made, this one is definitely near the top in terms of pride in my accomplishment. This is the only quilt I've ever taken from a sketch to a reality, with a completely original block design. I really enjoyed that side of the creative process, and it's something I think I'll do again in the future!
It is really gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI love the name too! LOL!!!

ReplyDeleteThat is a darling quilt! Very cool block and the colors are great. Gotta love a stripe for the binding!
ReplyDeleteI am way behind on my blog reading--but I have glanced through my feed at photos. I thought the "purse string block" totally had to be a vintage block you had looked up and re-done in a modern look. It has such a smart, classic feel to it, and you chose a fantastic, well-suited name. GREAT WORK, Kelly! I love this quilt. The design has a lot of movement in it, and enough "white" space to feel clean and air-ed out.
ReplyDeleteI love the orange! I've never used it much in my quilting, but I am trying it more and more. Did you figure the block out using graph paper or on a quilt computer program. I am always unsure of the math!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! So fresh and pretty!

P.S. You are awesome at naming quilts. I have one that I've had cut out for almost three years (or maybe it is almost four, now) and I'm still stuck on what to call it. Maybe I'll send you a photo and you can come up with something good ;)
I am doing this quilt for a customer in grey, green and grey paisley, lavendar and white. The customer picked the colors and let me pick the pattern. Coming along fantastically can't wait to get it done.
