Everybody loves a link party! They're a great way to get inspired by some awesome, creative projects, and an easy way to make friends in the blogging world. Not to mention- who doesn't love the comment love that comes our way when we've shared something we're working on? We all need that little pat on the back from time to time!
Needle and Thread Thursday will give you a chance to show us what you've got! Whether you're planning, piecing, quilting, or finished- we want to see it!
A few friendly guidelines-
1. This is a link party for quilting and sewing. As a quilter, of course that's my passion, but I won't nit-pick. If you made it using a needle and thread, it works!
2. Please remember to link to your actual blog post, not your main blog page, so others don't have to search.
3. Please post the Needle and Thread Thursday button somewhere on your blog, or include a text link in your post. Help spread the word! More links mean more fun for everyone!
4. Visit plenty of other links, and be generous with your comment love. (I love comments too!)
5. Following me is not a requirement to link, but it is so very appreciated!
Here's the Needle and Thread Thursday button!

Love your quilt labels. How do you make them?
ReplyDeleteThanks Joyce! I'm glad you like them. Here's how I do it-
DeleteI use Kona White and handwrite the label with a Pigma Pen (a permanent fabric pen). Then I just add a border from strips of leftover fabric. Usually I cut it at 3/4 inch so it is 1/2 inch finished on the label. I baste my quilt as usual (I use safety pins), but I leave one corner open. I use basting spray to stick hold the label in place and I zig-zag applique the label to just the backing layer. You have to be careful not to catch your batting or quilt top while you do this. Then I finish basting that corner and quilt as usual. I don't attach the label when I make the backing, because the backing is always bigger and some will get cut away. I don't do the label until the extra backing is cut away. Hope this makes sense! I might have to do a tutorial with photos!

DeleteThat's such a great idea. I have been wondering how to attach a quilt label when you are not sure that the backing will be cut off.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I'll be doing a tutorial on this with more detail and pictures soon!

Kelly, I am going to start a blog. Is the google one the one you use? Is it used by a lot of bloggers?
ReplyDeleteI do use Google Blogger and so far I really like it. The other one that is used a lot is Wordpress, but I don't know very much about that.

ReplyDeleteI really like your quilt labels!
ReplyDeleteI went to spoonflower.com and had my label printed on fabric and all I have to do is add my name and whatever else I want,
ReplyDeleteThat Isabella fabric would be soooo fun to work with. It's gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHi - I'm a new blogger and would love to link up to this on Thursday. How do I add the button to my post? I use WordPress and have no idea where to put it. Thanks so much if anyone can offer a suggestion!
