A Mid-Mod Quilt and NTT

Welcome to Needle and Thread Thursday, friends!  I've been busy turning that pile of chain piecing into a fun new quilt top this week, and I think the jewel/star shape has a retro, mid-mod feel.

This quilt uses the Cider collection with Ivory Bella Solids in the background, and I'm really enjoying the muted palette.  It's just so soft and pretty.  I got the backing put together and basted this quilt yesterday, so it's all ready to be quilted.

Last week's party was just amazing.  It was wonderful to browse through the links while sitting at home under all of the ice and snow.  Thankfully, we're closer to 70 degrees and sunny this week, and the snow has been reduced to tiny piles here and there.  Here are a few projects that caught my eye!

Kathy's Quilting Blog shared this colorful, scrappy quilt-

This fun quilt top was linked up by DonnaleeQ.  I spy a lot of Amy Butler goodness in there!

Look at this rainbow beauty by Sandra at mmm quilts-

Cynthia at Quilting is More Fun Than Housework showed off this pretty quilt (apparently I'm feeling the rainbows this week!)-

And I simply cannot allow this stunning purple quilt by Jayne at Twiggy and Opal to go unnoticed-

Okay, y'all!  If you got snow and ice dumped on you last week, I hope you're digging out in some warmer temps by now.  And if not, I hope you're snuggled up in your warm house with something hot to drink, working on a quilt.  Either way- let's party!

Snowmageddon and NTT

Hey there, all you northern peeps!  I am sorry to say that your weather is lost and stuck down here in the South where we are absolutely unprepared for it.  When you reach temps in the upper 90's in the summertime, I'll gladly come grab those if you'll please come and take your weather back where it belongs right this very second.  Deal?  Thanks.

This is the view from my sewing studio (there is a street under there somewhere), and though it is lovely, I'm over it.  Here in west Tennessee we haven't been above freezing since last Wednesday, and our low temp the other night was ONE.  That's just stupid cold.  We had almost a quarter inch of ice last Thursday, about six inches of snow on Monday, and it's snowing...again.  We're expecting another 3-5 inches of snow plus a nice glaze of ice tonight and tomorrow.  Ugh.  Southerners really are not built for this.

On the bright side, we have power and plenty of food, so we're all hunkered down at home.  My family in Texas is not so lucky.  They are currently without power AND water, so even though I'm grumbling a little, I'm definitely counting my blessings.  Prayers to all of you Southern people going through this (and all of you Northerners who are getting more winter weather than you want).  I truly hope you're faring well.

I have been able to accomplish quite a bit over the past week though.  I finished reviewing my book pages and got those submitted to my publisher (y'all are going to love this book.  I just know it!).  Then I got busy on my latest quilt.  I've been chain piecing a ton today, and I'm almost to the point where my blocks are ready to go together.  I'm hoping to have a finished quilt top sometime this weekend.  This is the Cider collection by Basic Grey, and though it's a little more earthy than my usual palette, I really love it.  I can't wait for you to see more.

Before we link up, take a look at some of the eye-candy from last week.  This beauty is by Sandra at mmm quilts-

Nancy at Grace and Peace Quilting shared this colorful quilt-

This simple but fun quilt was shared by Better'n Dog Biscuits-

I love this quilt by Anja Quilts-

And Jayne at Twiggy and Opal shared a mini quilt using the Pantone Colors of the Year-

Before we party, I also owe you two winners from last week's sponsor post.  Each of these winners will receive a gift certificate to Fort Worth Fabric Studio.  That'll brighten any winter day!  The two winners are Diane (comment #17) and The Joyful Quilter (comment #51).  Congrats, ladies!  I'll be emailing you shortly!

Okay, friends!  Let's get this party going!

The Devil Is In the Details and NTT

Happy Needle and Thread Thursday, y'all!  I have a brand new pattern designed, fabric all picked out for it, and my cutting list all ready, and it's all just waiting right now because I got an email from my publisher with my book pages, all ready for review.  Hooray!

The devil is in the details, so they say, so I'll be spending the next several days going through my book pages with a fine-toothed comb to catch any last edits before it goes off to the printer.  I hate that I can't share more than this blurred image, but just know that I love the way the book is taking shape, and I know you will too!

Last week's party was full of fantastic projects, like this icy beauty from Leanne at Devoted Quilter.  The cool colors in this quilt feel very appropriate for the season as I sit here waiting for a huge ice storm to arrive tonight (I'm hopeful our power stays on).

Marga's Crafts shared this stunning finished temperature quilt.  Marga is a quilt artist in my local guild who uses some unique techniques, and her work is absolutely amazing.

And this cute little pillow is by AnneMarie at Stories From the Sewing Room-

February Fabric Deals and Two Giveaways!

Hey there, friends!  It's the middle of another month, so that means it's time to fill you in on the latest happenings in my favorite shops around the web.  There's also a special holiday coming up on Sunday, just in case you're looking for an excuse to get a little treat for yourself.  ;)  This post also includes two awesome giveaways, so keep reading to find out more!

First up is LouLou's Fabric Shop.  Through February 20th, LouLou's is offering 10% off all bundles and kits with the code cuddleup.

I talk about how much I love buying bundles a lot, but kits are also a great way to get great deals on fabric.  I have been known to buy a kit even if I don't plan to make the exact quilt intended.  Kits are a great way to get a big chunk of fabric you love, and they are often priced very well.  LouLou's has lots of bundles and kits to choose from, so definitely don't miss out on this sale!

We are smack in the middle of the gray days of winter, but my sights are already set on the vibrant colors of spring.  Over at Lady Belle Fabric, their Just Arrived section is brimming with goodies that have me wishing for warmer temperatures and lots of sunshine, like the New Dawn collection by Citrus and Mint.  Isn't it luscious?

And finally, let's finish off the roundup with Fort Worth Fabric Studio, who also happens to be sponsoring both of this months giveaways.  If you're not on their mailing list, you definitely should be.  Fort Worth Fabric Studio is always adding items to their monthly bargain section HERE, and each Tuesday they have a flash sale that is unbeatable.

This week, Strawberry Fields Forever is on sale.  Yardage is marked way down, and 10" square stackers are half price!  You can get yours HERE.

              Fort Worth Fabric Studio

As I mentioned, Fort Worth Fabric Studio is sponsoring TWO giveaways this month.  Two lucky winners will each receive a $10 gift certificate to the shop to spend however you choose.  Woohoo!

Before you head off to treat yourself to a little happy, be sure to enter the giveaways.  To enter, just leave ONE comment on this post.

Don't forget to leave an email address if you're a no-reply blogger, and remember, only one entry per person please!  Unfortunately, replies to your own comment counts as an entry (the system numbers those, too), so remember to put your email address in your comment if necessary.

Additional replies/comments/entries are always deleted.  I'll announce the winners at next week's NTT (February 17th).

Good luck and happy shopping, y'all!

Geo Drops Pattern Release and NTT

Happy February and happy Needle and Thread Thursday, y'all!  I've been working hard this week to put the finishing touches on my Geo Drops pattern, and I'm so excited to let you know that it's now available!

This pattern is incredibly easy to put together and it makes quite a splash (sorry, couldn't help myself, lol!).  It is written in lap, twin, and queen sizes and includes cutting diagrams, detailed instructions, and illustrations for every step.  I think my favorite part of this quilt is the scrappy gray background, but if you would rather use a single solid fabric, I've got you covered there too!  Geo Drops is written giving both background options.  The listing is live in my Etsy shop, and I hope you'll check it out HERE!

Last week's party was straight up ahh-mazing!  There was so much to see, and I can tell y'all are rocking it in 2021.  Take a look at this fantastic pineapple quilt shared by Tubakk at Den syende himmel-

This scrappy heart quilt by Quiltpiecer is so very sweet!

Take a look at this modern beauty by Jayne at Twiggy and Opal.  What a great unexpected color palette-

And finally, Julie's Quilts and Costumes linked up this stunner.  Just WOW!

Whoa!  Week in and week out, I never tire of looking at the awesomeness you create.  So, let's get this party started!
