Oh, Amy! You've captivated me again with your brilliantly saturated hues...
Happy Labor Day to all. I hope you all got some great holiday-weekend sewing time like I did! I purchased this bundle of Amy Butler's Violette collection this summer while traveling, and I have been waiting for pattern inspiration to strike to put them to good use.
The twelve fabrics that I chose from the collection are almost all blues and greens (not a shock to those of you who read regularly) with a few pops of other colors here and there, so I wanted to design a pattern that would make the best use of the lack of variation in the palette. I really like the simplicity of the pattern and the shape created in the white background fabric.
When I finish this one up, I'm planning to write the pattern, but I am completely stumped on an appropriate name. Any ideas?
I look at that and see chicken wire.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking that I definitely need something that sounds a little prettier though, lol!

That was my exact thought! First, "Chicken Wire" then, "No- that's not a very pretty name!"
DeleteSnowballs in June!
ReplyDeleteCotton Balls in the Meadow
ReplyDeleteBeautiful... No Shrinking Violet?? :)
ReplyDeleteI can see the chicken wire as well. Or the white areas look like an egg shape. So with that in mind, Cooped Up, Eggstra Special, Egg Toss. Or they could be clouds and you could name it Meadow Clouds, Cloudy Meadow, Partly Cloudy? Either way it's a pretty quilt ;c)

ReplyDeleteI see lattice, courtyard, paths, something about a palace garden. Cute pattern!
ReplyDeleteMyra, I like those suggestions! It sort of reminds me of a mosaic walkway. Palace Garden is a pretty name!
DeleteI'm with the above . . . I rather like the "tropical snowballs" idea!
ReplyDeleteLove it! I would call it Seeing Spots. Reminds me of the spots after a camera flash. :)
ReplyDeleteNo name but a question. When you buy a line such as this, how much do you buy of each piece in the line? Nancy A: rangerer@sbcglobal.net
ReplyDeleteOh, Amy!
ReplyDeleteWhen I looked at this darling quilt, I saw four-leafed clovers! Love the colors you chose!!
ReplyDeleteI see "jacks" from the kids game. Not sure how that translates to a name but it does sound fun.
ReplyDeleteAmy Butler's fabric hasn't captivated me in a while but her last 2 lines make me think she's back. I love Violette.
ReplyDeleteI see Coral Reef
ReplyDeleteI see Coral Reef
ReplyDeleteIt's so interesting to see how people see different things in a quilt. When I first glanced at it in the little thumbnail photo - I thought it was bow tie blocks. The when your blog page opened up I saw the block design more clearly. The blocks looks like Jacks to me ( you know those pronged things kids play with?)
ReplyDeleteSo Jack's Garden, Jack's Trellis, Jack's Mosaic Garden ( playing off all the great suggestions above). Good luck
I like! How about Snowballs in the Meadow?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!!! Love the punch of orange. I just bought several of the same new Amy prints too and am looking forward to a remake of one of my older designs with new colors . . . oranges and aquas mostly.
ReplyDeleteI see fancy X's -- you could just call it Fancy X. :) I also like the suggestion above that it looks like a lattice in a garden (and that would probably lend itself to prettier names than my silly "Fancy X" idea!).
ReplyDeleteOh goodness, that is so beautiful! It almost looks like a lattice quilt of some sort! Lovely job!
ReplyDeleteBeautifully done. Lots of fun names given already, For some reason the pattern reminds of glass. So how about Sea Glass?
ReplyDeleteSnowballs Chance...I like double meanings...
