Happy Labor Day to all. I hope you all got some great holiday-weekend sewing time like I did! I purchased this bundle of Amy Butler's Violette collection this summer while traveling, and I have been waiting for pattern inspiration to strike to put them to good use.
The twelve fabrics that I chose from the collection are almost all blues and greens (not a shock to those of you who read regularly) with a few pops of other colors here and there, so I wanted to design a pattern that would make the best use of the lack of variation in the palette. I really like the simplicity of the pattern and the shape created in the white background fabric.
When I finish this one up, I'm planning to write the pattern, but I am completely stumped on an appropriate name. Any ideas?
I look at that and see chicken wire.

That was my exact thought! First, "Chicken Wire" then, "No- that's not a very pretty name!"

ReplyDeleteI can see the chicken wire as well. Or the white areas look like an egg shape. So with that in mind, Cooped Up, Eggstra Special, Egg Toss. Or they could be clouds and you could name it Meadow Clouds, Cloudy Meadow, Partly Cloudy? Either way it's a pretty quilt ;c)

ReplyDeleteIt's so interesting to see how people see different things in a quilt. When I first glanced at it in the little thumbnail photo - I thought it was bow tie blocks. The when your blog page opened up I saw the block design more clearly. The blocks looks like Jacks to me ( you know those pronged things kids play with?)

ReplyDeleteBeautiful!!! Love the punch of orange. I just bought several of the same new Amy prints too and am looking forward to a remake of one of my older designs with new colors . . . oranges and aquas mostly.
ReplyDeleteI see fancy X's -- you could just call it Fancy X. :) I also like the suggestion above that it looks like a lattice in a garden (and that would probably lend itself to prettier names than my silly "Fancy X" idea!).
