Happy Needle and Thread Thursday, friends. Do you ever have a vision of a quilt in your head and then as you work on making it a reality, find that it's just not coming together? Welcome to the story of my last few days. My blue and aqua/teal scrap jars were getting a little full and these watery colors always feel beachy and summery to me, so I decided to pull them out and play.
Well, I sewed the strips into the scrap pieces and went to lay them out, and...yikes. It was just a mess. So, I took them down and tried another layout. Again, no. I love blue and aqua together, and this pile has some really pretty scraps, so I'm not ready to give up on it just yet. I'm now on my third plan for this pile, and we'll see how it goes...
Okay, time to check out some of the gorgeous projects from last week's party. This quilt by Anorina at Samelia's Mum is a stunner!
I love this quilt by Something Rosemade-
Okay, my friends! Who's ready to party? Let's do this thing.
1. You can link finished projects or WIP's , but just keep it about quilting and sewing!
2. Link to your specific post (not to your home page!) to make it easier for others.
3. Please remember to spread the word and post my button or a text link within your
post.
4. Spread the comment love far and wide!
5. Following me is not a requirement to link, but is so very appreciated!
*If you're new to the party, here's a helpful tip for linking up- select "Auto Crop" when selecting your thumbnail photo. For some reason, trying to crop your own image results in the dreaded "white question mark box," and we definitely want to see your awesome work! :)
Hopefully third time is the charm!!
ReplyDeleteYay! Thanks for sharing my project. I love your aqua pieces and look forward to seeing your beachy creation.
ReplyDeleteI can totally relate to your opening comment - I've had a few false starts recently! Loving your mix of blues!
ReplyDeleteI love your sea glass look. I'm sure you'll get your wave to cooperate!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I'm right there with you. I'm working on some improv and I have an idea of where I want it to go, but I have a feeling it will go a whole 'nother direction. I hope you get your idea to work! Those scraps are lovely!
ReplyDeleteLots of beauty here, like always.
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI'm working on a quilt now that is a jumble in my mind. Hoping it comes
out alright. If not, back to the drawing board. Thanks for sharing all those beautiful quilts. Have a great day!
Such pretty scraps! Hope third time will be the charm.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear those scraps were working against you, Kelly! Here's hoping they will play nicely on your third try.
ReplyDeleteI hope it is third time is a charm. I do love those colors. Rather than third strike and your out!
ReplyDeleteOh yes! Believe me, I sure DO know how a design idea doesn't work out! It happens to me all the time! Like beating my head against a wall, I keep trying anyway. Such is the case with TWO challenge projects I've recently been working on. Neither one is going anywhere. It's so frustrating, exasperating and discouraging. But, it does make that ONE good design idea that works out, feel like a trip to the moon! Guess I need to appreciate small favors. Your fabrics are gorgeous colors anyway, and you're sewing on a Bernina, so life isn't all bad. :-) Love seeing Anorina's quilt again. It's a stunner.
ReplyDeleteLove those colors you are working with. Hope the blocks coalesce into a wonderful design.
