Shattered Rainbow...Encore!

I just finished putting the blocks together for my (new) Shattered Rainbow quilt.  If you missed my last post, the original version of this quilt was sold right after I made it, and even though I know the owner really cherishes it, the slight tinge of lingering regret meant that I had to make one for myself to keep.

It has taken another year to build up enough scraps for this full sized quilt, and I really am in love with it.  It feels great to have empty scrap jars too!  The only scraps I have left to tackle are the fabrics that are truly multi-colored that wouldn't really fit in one color block, and I'm planning to deal with those later in the summer.  Now to decide what do do with the back...

  9. Often times I don't really feel like a rainbow quilt works when one color flows into another, but this sooo does! I wonder if it's the scrappiness of it or the "improv" feel? Either way...it's great.

  12. Another beautiful quilt, Kelly! You seem to have a pretty even scrap color assortment. I have been sorting my scraps in an attempt of organization. I am finding I have a lot of black and white scraps verses more colorful scraps. Enjoy your new colorful quilt!

  17. I'm so happy you posted the final results. What an amazing way to use up all those scraps without all the fuss. I just finished my fourth top and hope to have enough scraps to make a quilt like this before 2 years is up. (I don't get make nearly as many quilts as you do!) Happy sewing!!
