Welcome to Needle and Thread Thursday, friends! I'm still working on busting through my stash, and I really enjoyed working within a single color way for my last quilt, Emerald Coast. It was such a great way to use up stash that I decided to use the same idea for my current quilt. So, here come the purples and grays!
I didn't have quite as many purples and grays, so I used a small chunk of Kona White for the background of these X Plus blocks. Remember, my goal is to make as many quilts as I can without purchasing a single bit of fabric, and I had just enough Kona White to finish this one off.
I just love X Plus quilts. This block was all the rage several years ago, and even though it isn't the trendy, must-make quilt pattern these days, it will always be one of my favorites. I love sewing snowball corners (aka stitch and flip corners), so not only do I love the way X Plus quilts look, I truly enjoy making them.
I think I'm going to call this one Grape Soda, and I'm working to get it finished up!
Alrighty, friends! As usual, last week's party was jam-packed with goodness. Take a look at this lovely quilt from Quilting Gail-
Grape Soda is gorgeous! I love this block too, and one day I will make a quilt with them ;) Yours is a fabulous use of purple and gray scraps.
ReplyDeleteYes, I love the X-Plus block--it's become a classic in my book! So cute in your purples and grays!
ReplyDeleteGrape soda is the perfect name for this X-Plus quilt - it has the pop and fizz!
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly, those fabric colours are gorgeous. That's a great name for your newest quilt!
ReplyDeleteWill you be adding a border to Grape Soda? It looks just lovey as it is, but a border could be a nice touch too. :)
ReplyDeletePurple and grey combination I had not thought of. It's beautiful. As someone already commented, the name Grape Soda is perfect for that quilt.
ReplyDeleteYour purple and gray X Plus quilt looks great! It's a fresh color-combo, and you used-up beautifully with this one. Like you, I'm sewing only from stash. In fact, I've been doing so - and tracking fabric usage - for more than 18 months now. Boy, am I ever sick of using the same fabrics in every quilt (or so it seems), and having to cobble together fabrics for backings. It's really challenging, especially as my stash is truly getting smaller. Sometimes I dream about buying a new print just to have something different to work with. Sigh.
