NTT and an Unruly Finish

Hello all!  Welcome to another Needle and Thread Thursday!  The weeks are flying by these days!  Last Sunday, I hosted our monthly MQG meeting, and worked to finish up my Unruly quilt beforehand.

I look forward to our monthly meetings so much.  Don't get me wrong- I wouldn't trade the online quilting community for anything, but it is such fun to share laughs and quilt obsessions in person!

Y'all know I love a pieced backing, which is good, since I'm really trying to make a dent in my Amy Butler fabrics.  I still have enough for another quilt or two though.

I used a pretty shade of aqua Kona, but I didn't pay attention to the name of it.  While I do like it, I really wanted to find a shade of red or coral to really stand out.  I suppose I could have ordered the perfect shade, but I'm just not that patient.  There is so much color and pattern in this quilt that it really may have worked out for the best!

The finished quilt measures 54 x 72" and I'm hoping to get the pattern for this one finished up this weekend!

So, let's get down to last week's highlights, shall we?  Jess at Quilty Habit linked up these TWO Sisters Ten BOM quilts.  I love the block layout, and the two colorways!

Michelle at Renewing Mrs. Sew & Sew shared this eye-catching rainbow quilt.  Gorgeous quilting!

and Carol Quilts Sometimes showed off her solid sampler.  I love the pops of color against that black background!

Time to show me what's going on in your sewing space this week!

1.  You can link finished projects or WIP's , but just keep it about quilting and sewing!
2. Link to your specific post (not to your home page!) to make it easier for others.
3. Please remember to spread the word and post my button or a text link.
4. Spread the comment love far and wide!
5. Following me is not a requirement to link, but is so very appreciated!

  2. Hi Kelly! I agree with you the binding looks great in aqua color. Some other color could have brought too much distraction from your hard work on piecing these Amy Butler prints!

  3. Ooooh Kelly - your quilt turned out so well! I was so excited to see it all finished. I like the teal binding - although I probably would have liked a red one as well. The back of this quilt is so pretty, too!

  9. Great finish and I like the binding, though red/coral would have looked good too. I'd also have been too impatient to wait! I haven't got a real life group of quilters, just the web, but I really wish I had people I could meet up with in person.

  10. I've seen so much Amy Butler lately and have been using it myself. I think it's a trend: we're all trying to make a dent in our AB stashes! I love to use guild meetings as deadlines, too. Glad you were able to show this one off -- with its lovely teal binding -- in person.

  12. Thank you, thank you, thank you, for sharing your quilt made from your Amy Butler prints. I have had a stash on hold due to my lack of creativity but now...watch out...you have provided spark plugs for my battery.

  13. I like how you finished your quilt, Kelly. I have not worked with many Amy Butler fabrics. I just never felt confident enough to place all her prints in a quilt design. I like the aqua binding, but that would be in my comfort zone. I can see how the red hued binding would be wonderful as well. I am drawn to the red AB prints in this quilt. Maybe it is time to find some AB precuts.. Thanks for sharing your quilt.

  14. This quilt is great and I love the back too!! I am not brave enough to use that many prints at once, I'm afraid I would have a mess :) Yours however, looks wonderful! One of these days I will get bold. I'm getting tired of so much white in my quilts...

  22. I love the back of your quilt, beautiful enough to be a quilt top in its own right.

  23. Love this quilt! Do those AB fabrics have a particular name that I could look for to find some?
