I decided to piece the backing with log cabin blocks across the back, and I think the huge black and white polkadots really make the colors pop. The binding is Kona Buttercup and I love the sunny feeling it gives too. How could you not smile when you look at this quilt?
I quilted with white thread, and I wasn't too sure how I would like the contrast of the stitches on the back, but when I'm doing FMQ, I'm always afraid to use two different colors, for fear that any little imperfections will show in my stitches. In the end though, I actually like that the stitches show up. I think it goes along with the fun feeling of the quilt.
I actually took this quilt to our neighborhood park to get some of the pictures. I think it's the perfect quilt for picnics on lazy summer days- and that means I got to photograph it in its natural habitat, ha!
Happy Dance is definitely the right name! Looks amazing Kelly! Wish i had this one at the beach today, it would have been right at home!
