Strips Ad Nauseam and NTT

Hey there friends, and welcome to Needle and Thread Thursday!  Remember that pile of 1.5" scrap strips I shared in my last post?  Well, I've been sewing them together into one looooooooonnngg strip for the past few days.  Though I welcomed some good, mindless sewing after finishing the quilts for my book, I underestimated the tedium of the task.  I managed to get about three hours of good sewing time in each day before I just had to stop.

Just for reference, that pile is about 2' x 3', and about two feet tall.  Now that the strip sewing is all finished, I can't wait to watch this quilt take shape.  Since I grabbed strips from my piles randomly, I won't have any control whatsoever over color distribution or fabric placement, and because I have no idea how long this strip is, I don't even know how big this quilt will be.  It's all an exercise in letting go.  Since I love scrappy quilts so much, I'm just taking it on faith that I am going to love the finished product.  We shall see.

Before we party, check out the highlights from last well.  Sandra at mmm quilts shared this powerful quilt-

Gretchen's Little Corner shared progress on her Nameless quilt-

I love this quilt by Jan at The Colorful Fabriholic-

Vasudha at Storied Quilts linked up this pretty quilt-

And Janine at The Sweetest Dreams showed off this beauty-

Without further ado, let's link up!

1You can link finished projects or WIP's , but just keep it about quilting and sewing!
2. Link to your specific post (not to your home page!) to make it easier for others.
3. Please remember to spread the word and post my button or a text link within your

4. Spread the comment love far and wide!
5. Following me is not a requirement to link, but is so very appreciated!

*If you're new to the party, here's a helpful tip for linking up- select "Auto Crop"  when selecting your thumbnail photo.  For some reason, trying to crop your own image results in the dreaded "white question mark box," and we definitely want to see your awesome work!  :)

A New Scrap Project and NTT

Hey there, friends, and happy Needle and Thread Thursday.  I've been working for the past several days on cutting every single scrap in my jars to 1.5" wide for a new quilt.  Yes- every. single, scrap.  I'm not exactly sure how it's going to turn out, but I'm hopeful that it will be something really awesome.  Even though I love a rainbow, this will NOT be a rainbow quilt, despite how my scrap piles look.  It's just that I sort my scraps by color, so that's how I process them before I use them.  I just have my multicolored and white scraps to cut, and then I'll get to start sewing!

I used lots of scraps in making the quilts for my second book, and with our puppy and the move to our new house last fall, I've done less quilting than usual since my scrap purge last year.  I have a feeling these scraps will still make a good size quilt though.  We shall see!

Last week's party was fantastic!  I just love this quilt by Anja Quilts-

Jayne at Twiggy and Opal shared this wonderfully cheerful quilt top-

And my, oh my!  This one by Sophie at Luna Lovequilts is a stunner!

The Final Peek and NTT

Happy Needle and Thread Thursday, friends!  Today, I'm sharing the final peek from my upcoming book.  Since, I've now finished all of the sewing, I'll be getting back to my other quilting projects, and can't wait to be able to share with you.  Secret sewing is so tough.

This was also birthday week for my wild thing and me.  I can't believe I have a sixteen year old!  He's been driving with a learner's permit for a year, so we'll be scheduling the driving test very soon.  I'm finding it tough to wrap my head around that one.

Before we get to last week's party, take a look at some of the projects that caught my eye from last week.  This string stunner is by Cynthia at Quilting is More Fun Than Housework-

Celine at Espritpatch linked up this sweet mini quilt.  Look at all of that quilting detail!

This pretty quilt was shared by DONNALEEQ-

And I just love all of the blues in this lovely quilt by Den syende himmel-

A Texture Teaser and NTT

I am in love with this quilt and can't wait to show it fully.  Fall 2021 is a long time to wait!  But alas, it is what it is.  Instead, take a look at the highlights from last week's party.  Shannon at The Flemings Nine linked up this scrappy rainbow beauty-

Losing Track and NTT

Remember that time during the quarantine that you completely forgot which day it was?  Yeah, well that was me last week.  I was so in the groove of sewing and writing that the days blurred together and before I knew it, it was Friday and I realized I had forgotten NTT.  I'm SO sorry!  Though the blogging game is lacking these days, my sewing and writing game is strong, so there's that.  And just to prove it, here's another peek my secret sewing for my new book.

From the looks of last week's party, the sewing game is strong for lots of you.  This quilt by Jan at The Colorful Fabriholic is fantastic!

Michelle at From Bolt to Beauty shared this simple and sweet quilt-

This scrappy beauty is by Kathy at Kayak Quilting-

Free Motion Wind and NTT

Happy Needle and Thread Thursday, friends.  I've just finished up another project for my book, and because it's a brand new free motion motif for me, today's peek is a close up of some free motion wind quilting.

I'm so proud of the way the wind turned out (this is just one little section of the background).  I'm sad that I can't show you what this wind is "blowing," but I promise it will be worth the wait.  Until I can share some not-so-secret sewing, we'll have to ogle the party highlights extra hard- and there are a ton of ogle-worthy projects!  Check out this fun quilt by Margo at MY Quilts and Crafts-

Shannon at The Flemings Nine shared this pretty quilt-

Take a look at this beauty by Nancy at Grace and Peace Quilting.  I LOVE the photo of this one!
