I'm Kelly- nice to meet you!

Welcome to My Quilt Infatuation!  Who am I?  I'm a wife to an awesome husband and quilt-holder extraordinaire, mom to a 13 year old son (my wild thing!), and a former elementary school teacher.  I'm from south Louisiana, but my family currently lives in Tennessee, along with our adorable but slightly neurotic Boxer, Beau.

When I'm not helping with homework, chauffeuring my wild thing to one of his many activities, or dealing with any other aspect of the day to day grind, I'm a fabric-obsessed quilter and pattern designer!

Life keeps me busy of course, but I make time to quilt- and our whole family is happier for it.  It's my creative outlet and my stress-reliever- in short, I'm infatuated with it!

My love affair with quilts began long before I ever owned my first sewing machine.  I've loved them for as long as I can remember, and made my first quilt almost 20 years ago!

When I think back to my first quilts, and my long quilting journey, I am especially thankful that there are lots of creative quilters out here in the blogosphere that I can learn from, and I'm grateful that I can share my quilting with others too.  Thanks for stopping by!  I'm looking forward to sharing my life and my quilts with you!

  1. Hi!

I'm Claire, and I'm an intern for You may be familiar with some of our sister sites, FaveCrafts and AllFreeSewing. I'm contacting you because I would love to feature some of your quilting tutorials on!

I look forward to hearing from you!

  2. Wow, king size for a first, that alone is something to be proud of!! :)

  3. Your quilts are beautiful! I love quilting too! What kind of sewing machine do you own? I'm guessing it must be a long arm, since you make large quilts. Thanks for sharing your wonderful quilts! ~Vickie

    1. Thank you Vickie! actually, I have a Bernina 550QE, which is a regular short-arm machine. It is tough to get a bed sized quilt done on a regular machine, but it is doable! Thanks for visiting!

      :) Kelly

  4. Thank heaven for rotary cutters!!

  5. Hi Kelly....a lovely first quilt. I am amazed that your first quilt is king size. Of all the quilts that are made a classic patchwork is hard to beat! As for those imperfections they make quilts more unique and beautiful. Thanks for sharing. Marie

  6. Hi kelly
Are all boxers neurotic? I have a boxer/pit mix. She is seventy pounds of goofy. Sometimes she is dumber than a sack of hammers. An example is when she goes out to potty, she will jump in the air to try and catch birds that fly over. She thinks she is a lap dog. I have to put her in a crate when i go anywhere. I left her out once and when i got back, she had eaten half of two couch cushions, yes eaten not tore up. A trip to the vet got her straightened out. He said boxers are notorious for suffering from seperation anxiety when left by themselves. She is a rescue dog. She was used for a bait dog at dog fights. If she sees a big dog, she starts shaking uncontrolable. She has scars all over her. When my only child, my daughter moved in to take care of me after i had a near fatal brain anurysm and tragically just four days later died in my arms from a blood clot. Heidi my dog has helped me through that and several other setious health issues. I love the baby quilt yoi made. I have quilted for over 40 years and all my quilts are hand pieced and hand quilted and donated. I am very low income and cannot afford fabric. If you ever have any scraps you will not use, i would love to use them. Thank you and god bless barbara

  7. Hi, I noticed that awhile back you made a quilt using the Who's On First fabric line by Benartex. Do you by any chance have any of the fabric left that you might sell? I know...crazy question but I promised my grandson a pillow case to go with his quilt (made 3 years ago.)for his new hose and the fabric is all but gone. Thanks for any help you can give.

  9. Love your site! I am a fellow Memphian--we actually live in Fayette county, but I'm just getting totally into the quilt thing after sewing boutique children's clothing! Needless to say I have lots of scraps! Lol! I look forward to visiting your blog often! Cheers!

    1. Wonderful to "meet" someone so close! You should try to come to a Modern Quilt Guild meeting. We have members that live as far away as Searcy, AR and Hernando, MS, not just the Memphis metro area. Our guild button is on my sidebar, which goes to our Facebook page. Would love to meet you in person!

      :) Kelly
