!2 Days of Christmas- Gather Your Fabrics!

Hey there, 12 Days of Christmas fans!  If you're sewing along with us, it's time to gather your fabrics!  I've chosen to sew my quilt with tons of different colors, which gives the quilt such a fun, charming look.  But, there are lots of different options!

If you really want to stick with traditional Christmas colors, you could choose to sew the blocks with all shades of red and green, with a few touches of gold or silver.  Or, you can sew your quilt with one fabric collection for a fully coordinated look, like Rose from Something Rosemade.

If you choose to make a quilt that looks like the cover, the book gives a full fabric requirements list, detailing exactly how much of each color you'll need, as well as in which blocks each fabric appears.  For example, the same dark red fabric appears in blocks 3, 4, 5, and 12, and the fabric requirement chart gives one measurement for that fabric amount for all blocks.  Showing the fabric requirements this way keeps you from overbuying fabric, and also eliminates the risk of not being able to get more of a certain fabric when it's time for a later block.

Of course, if you're a scrap lover like me, you may not even need to purchase anything but the background fabric (and maybe the fabric for the numbers for consistency).  Only a small amount is required for many of these fabrics, and it's a perfect place to go shopping in your scrap bins!

So tell me- what's the plan for your quilt?  Gather up your fabrics, because next month we're sewing the first block!
