Welcome to Needle and Thread Thursday, friends! This week, I've been working on a happy new quilt, and all the blocks are done!
Okay, so full disclosure- I do have a small stash of Christmas prints and school/sports team prints that are kept in a separate spot, but believe me when I tell you that those are very few. And, I also have a small solids stash that I keep folded elsewhere. But, wow! My regular print stash is really small these days. Each color section is so small that it's becoming more and more difficult to pull enough fabrics that feel cohesive. I really want to see how far I can take this little experiment, though. We shall see...
Have any of you ever given yourself a similar challenge? How did it go? What did you find the most difficult? Let me know in the comments!
Okay, y'all! Because of last weeks big announcement, it's been two full weeks since the last NTT. So, I hope you have double the projects to link up. Just a reminder, there's no limit to the number of links you can add, so if you have more than one project to share, be sure to show off everything! Our last party was full of awesomeness, as usual.
This sweet quilt is from DonnaleeQ. I absolutely love birds, and this is adorable!
1. You can link finished projects or WIP's , but just keep it about quilting and sewing!
2. Link to your specific post (not to your home page!) to make it easier for others.
3. Please remember to spread the word and post my button or a text link within your
post.
4. Spread the comment love far and wide!
5. Following me is not a requirement to link, but is so very appreciated!
*If you're new to the party, here's a helpful tip for linking up- select "Auto Crop" when selecting your thumbnail photo. For some reason, trying to crop your own image results in the dreaded "white question mark box," and we definitely want to see your awesome work! :)
Wow, you've really whittled down your print stash and it's going to be fun to see how far you can take your experiment. I personally don't stash many prints (each color gets one small box); the majority of my stash is solids, and I do keep a fair amount of those around. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly, I always love your creations! Yes, I am also trying to 'shop my stash' first and foremost - I spent the Easter break reorganising it all and it reconfirmed that really I should not have to shop for fabric again (except maybe for solids to use as sashing/blenders) for about thirty years!! And as for using up scraps/strings/strips...
ReplyDeleteI like your quilt, it's a very happy quilt and even better since it came from your stash! Happy stitching!
ReplyDeleteCute quilt and so, so impressive that you can use so much stash and make pretty quilts from it.
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly, it looks like you're going to have to go shopping if you keep this up :-) I mostly use my stash but since I don't make that many quilts, I could stop shopping for years, so now I only buy the cutest fat quarters or backing (although I'm going to try to piece them the next time!). Thanks so much for featuring my Spring Tulips. It's almost finished!
ReplyDeleteWow, you've made such a dent in your collection! I've been piecing quilt backs ever since your book came out--what a game changer!!!
