Heartbreak and NTT

Today, we had to say goodbye to our beloved family Boxer, Beau, and my heart is so sad (thank goodness for the ability to schedule posts).  We rescued him when my son was in Kindergarten, and Beau has been his playmate for the bulk of his childhood.  He is handling it as well as I can possibly expect (with a teenager, feelings are sometimes hard to decipher), but it breaks my heart that I can't make it okay.  Beau turned ten on Sunday, and we had a little party with cheeseburgers, a cake, and plenty of squishy kisses, grateful that even with lung cancer, he could enjoy his final birthday.

We were determined to not waste our last few days with him, and as such, I haven't felt like sewing too much.  I did make a set of burp cloths (find my tutorial HERE), and it was nice to finish something fast and easy.  I love making these sets for a new baby.  They are soft and cuddly, and so easy to personalize with specific colors matching any decor imaginable.

Before we party, check out some of the highlights from last week.  This sweet set of mini quilts, by Laura at Slice of Pi Quilts gets me in the mood for spring!

Look at this fun mini by Vicki's Crafts and Quilting.  Such a cool interpretation of flying geese.

and this scrappy quilt by Susan at Quilt Fabrication is awesome.  It is called Raspberry Cheesecake, and I think that's a perfect name!

Let's party, y'all!

1. You can link finished projects or WIP's , but just keep it about quilting and sewing!
2. Link to your specific post (not to your home page!) to make it easier for others.
3. Please remember to spread the word and post my button or a text link.
4. Spread the comment love far and wide!
5. Following me is not a requirement to link, but is so very appreciated!

*If you're new to the party, here's a helpful tip for linking up- select "Auto Crop"  when selecting your thumbnail photo.  For some reason, trying to crop your own image results in the dreaded "white question mark box," and we definitely want to see your awesome work!  :)

  3. Awe, so very sorry about Beau. It is heartbreaking and I still miss my first "baby" (lab). Remembering the good times we shared helped me, now I smile when I think of him. I hope in time you will smile with good memories of your pup as well.

  26. Please accept my sympathy on the loss of your boxer. There's been a boxer or 3 in my house since 1984, I know it can hurt deeply when they leave this world. Hugs.
I'll leave you with this: It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them, and every new dog who comes into my life gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough all the components of my heart will be dog and I will become as generous and loving as they are.

  29. I'm so sorry to hear about your dog Kelly! My cat died of lung cancer and it is a terrible way to go, especially since picking her up to cuddle her would wind her and leave her gasping. Weirdly, a song that seemed to be on high rotation on the radio at the time was Year of the Cat - that year was!
