Life keeps me busy of course, but I make time to quilt- and our whole family is happier for it. It's my creative outlet and my stress-reliever- in short, I'm infatuated with it!
My love affair with quilts began long before I ever owned my first sewing machine. I've loved them for as long as I can remember, and made my first quilt over 20 years ago!
When I think back to my first quilts, and my long quilting journey, I am especially thankful that there are lots of creative quilters out here in blog-land that I can learn from, and I'm grateful that I can share my quilting with others too. Thanks for stopping by! I'm looking forward to sharing my life and my quilts with you!
Hi!
ReplyDeleteI'm Claire, and I'm an intern for FaveQuilts.com. You may be familiar with some of our sister sites, FaveCrafts and AllFreeSewing. I'm contacting you because I would love to feature some of your quilting tutorials on FaveQuilts.com!
Each review includes a short description of the project, a byline that credits you, a link to the tutorial on your blog, and a photo of the finished project. We also feature links to projects and accompanying pictures in our free weekly e-mail newsletter. Please let us know if we have permission to feature your projects and photos on FaveQuilts.com and in newsletters. I look forward to hearing from you!
Thanks,
Claire
Wow, king size for a first, that alone is something to be proud of!! :)
ReplyDeleteYour quilts are beautiful! I love quilting too! What kind of sewing machine do you own? I'm guessing it must be a long arm, since you make large quilts. Thanks for sharing your wonderful quilts! ~Vickie
ReplyDeleteThank you Vickie! actually, I have a Bernina 550QE, which is a regular short-arm machine. It is tough to get a bed sized quilt done on a regular machine, but it is doable! Thanks for visiting!

Thank heaven for rotary cutters!!
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly....a lovely first quilt. I am amazed that your first quilt is king size. Of all the quilts that are made a classic patchwork is hard to beat! As for those imperfections they make quilts more unique and beautiful. Thanks for sharing. Marie
ReplyDeleteHi kelly
ReplyDeleteAre all boxers neurotic? I have a boxer/pit mix. She is seventy pounds of goofy. Sometimes she is dumber than a sack of hammers. An example is when she goes out to potty, she will jump in the air to try and catch birds that fly over. She thinks she is a lap dog. I have to put her in a crate when i go anywhere. I left her out once and when i got back, she had eaten half of two couch cushions, yes eaten not tore up. A trip to the vet got her straightened out. He said boxers are notorious for suffering from seperation anxiety when left by themselves. She is a rescue dog. She was used for a bait dog at dog fights. If she sees a big dog, she starts shaking uncontrolable. She has scars all over her. When my only child, my daughter moved in to take care of me after i had a near fatal brain anurysm and tragically just four days later died in my arms from a blood clot. Heidi my dog has helped me through that and several other setious health issues. I love the baby quilt yoi made. I have quilted for over 40 years and all my quilts are hand pieced and hand quilted and donated. I am very low income and cannot afford fabric. If you ever have any scraps you will not use, i would love to use them. Thank you and god bless barbara babscorbitt@gmail.com
Hi, I noticed that awhile back you made a quilt using the Who's On First fabric line by Benartex. Do you by any chance have any of the fabric left that you might sell? I know...crazy question but I promised my grandson a pillow case to go with his quilt (made 3 years ago.)for his new hose and the fabric is all but gone. Thanks for any help you can give.

Love your site! I am a fellow Memphian--we actually live in Fayette county, but I'm just getting totally into the quilt thing after sewing boutique children's clothing! Needless to say I have lots of scraps! Lol! I look forward to visiting your blog often! Cheers!
ReplyDeleteWonderful to "meet" someone so close! You should try to come to a Modern Quilt Guild meeting. We have members that live as far away as Searcy, AR and Hernando, MS, not just the Memphis metro area. Our guild button is on my sidebar, which goes to our Facebook page. Would love to meet you in person!

Hi - All of your quilts are beautiful!!! I really like Secret Lagoon, Text & Tiles and Birth Stones. Do you have a pattern for those that you can share or we can purchase? Thank you! LaDonna
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, LaDonna! I do have patterns for the Text and Tiles quilt (Courtyard Tiles pattern), and the Birthstones quilt. Both of them can be found in my Etsy shop, and the link is on my right sidebar. The Secret Lagoon quilt is a free pattern called Stacked Squares.

PS here's a little page I made years ago, these boxers have been gone for some time, I really should update it, there's a whole new crew here. http://boxeradventures.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteI'm a foster mom for GO Boxer Rescue in Ohio and have been since the late 90s I like bringing in the seniors that no one wants, occasionally one gets adopted but other wise they're here until the end. At the moment, it's a girl named Liberty, age unknown, but with "sugar" all over her face. I have Spike, a foster I adopted just recently, I've been waiting for one to adopt for my own, after I lost my Bosley (also a former foster) more than a year ago. And I'm also fostering a 2 year old girl with a genetic kidney disease.
aww! They really are the sweetest dogs. I grew up with Boxers and couldn't imagine having another breed. We just lost our Beau to metastatic lung cancer five weeks ago tomorrow, and miss him every day.

Hi Kelly, I'm playing with some of the ideas in your book right now and would love the specifics about your old glory quilt. Your tutorial is great but having the specifics would be wonderful. The old glory quilt will be a gift for my BIL who was a Marine.
ReplyDeleteI would be happy to send it to you, Shirley! Please use the Email Me button on my right sidebar, and I will reply back. You are coming up as a no-reply blogger, so I don't have your email address with your comment.

Is the most recent quilt that you posted on 12/12/18 your own design? If not, what pattern did you use?
ReplyDeleteOn the Tango quilt, what is meant by "two short sides"? Also would be very helpful to know how much fabric to buy for the back. Since the quilt is 48" wide and fabric is 44 or 45" wide, those of us who are mathematically impaired need some more instruction! Also, what is a no-reply blogger? I am not a blogger of any sort!
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly, I’ve noticed when I visit your blog it says “Not secure” in the address. I just learned about it from Wanda at exuberantcolor.blogspot.com/. Here is what she says to fix that….
ReplyDeleteFor all of you who still have http:// as the beginning of your blog address, this isn’t safe any more. Blogger has already set it to https:// for everyone but you need to take one more step. In Blogger go to your settings in the Basic page and change the HTTPS DIRECT to YES. In Bloglovin my blog came up as Not Secure until I changed that setting to YES. You don’t want the bad guys getting into your account and messing with it. I’m visiting a lot of blogs that still come up with the Not Secure at the beginning of the address and you need the setting enabled to forward your visitors to the secure https:// setting.
I went ahead and fixed my own blog and now the “not secure” is no longer there. Check it out!
Julie in WA, long-time follower of your blog!
Hi Kelly -
ReplyDeleteI am new to Quilting and am in love with your Bohemian Charm quilt. But the post doesnt link to a set of instructions. Can you point me in the direction of where to get that? Love the blog!!!!
