NTT- A Finished Quilt Top and South Carolina FUN

Hey there, y'all!  Whew!  It has been a whirlwind of a week around here!  I just got home on Monday night from visiting the Quilters of South Carolina and it was such a wonderful trip.  Columbia is a charming city, and the group that invited me to teach and speak was so friendly and hospitable.  Read on to see plenty of photos!  Since I got back, I sewed the blocks I shared last week into this Summer Blossom quilt top and I love it so much!

Since I didn't get home until Monday evening, my days this week are a little discombobulated (which is why this post is a little later than usual).  So, let's get right to the highlights from last week's party, shall we?

Okay friends!  Before we party, I have some important business to share.  NTT will be taking a break until after Easter, and will return on 4/22.  As I have mentioned previously, I'm scheduled to teach in San Diego in early April, but my husband and I have decided that since neither of us has ever traveled to California, we are taking this opportunity to have a little vacation beforehand.  Then, after we return from California, I will be traveling to teach in Colorado Springs almost immediately.  It's going to be so exciting!  So, Happy Spring, and I'll catch you on the flip side!

Summer Blossom Blocks and NTT

Welcome to Needle and Thread Thursday, y'all.  I've been sewing these Summer Blossom blocks all week and just loving the way they're coming together!

The original version of this flower block is in my book, Scrappy Improv Quilting, as a single-block mini quilt.  The denim blue background in the mini version makes the colors really pop, but since I was making a whole garden of Summer Blossoms with lots of different colors, I opted for a subtle low volume print to allow every color to stand out.

I am going to try to get this top put together this evening, but I might have to come back to them next week, because I need to pack!  Tomorrow morning, I'll be flying out to visit the Quilters of South Carolina for their annual spring meeting.  This group is comprised of guilds all over the state of South Carolina, and I love that they gather together each year.  I'll be teaching two full-day classes, and will be presenting a trunk show during the meeting.  I won't be home until Monday night.

Blues and Purples Added and NTT

Welcome to Needle and Thread Thursday, y'all.  This past weekend, I had the pleasure of having my parents and grandmother in town for a visit, so much of my week was consumed with that.  Even still, I did get a little sewing in and added some blue and purple scraps to the big rainbow on my design wall.

To be clear, I had SO many blue scraps, and this is not nearly all of them; but I pulled out enough for this project.  I'll just have to deal with the rest later.  Other than a couple of large scrap chunks, these two panels did finish off my purples though.

I've finally decided what I'm going to do with all of these, and I can't wait to see it take shape!
